Three Gorges Hub of the Yangtze River has been put into operation for 20 years to the rapid growth of the gate capacity, data show that the Three Gorges Hub in 2022, the gate capacity has reached the design limit of 160 million tons, the first three quarters of 2023 is to hit a new record high of 127 million tons, an increase of 10.02%, the waiting time has been increased from 17 hours in 2011 to 223 hours in 2022.

With the completion of the future expansion and transformation of the Guangba Dawan Railway, the Northwest Railway and Water Transportation cargo volume will increase significantly, which will further increase the pressure of crossing the gate. Through the iron and water transport "Yangtze River Liner" can effectively reduce the Three Gorges Hub crossing load, significantly shorten the cargo transportation time, and effectively enhance the upstream and downstream cargo channel transportation capacity along the Yangtze River.

 

The launch of the "Yangtze River Liner" is an important step for our province to implement the national strategy of "accelerating the construction of comprehensive three-dimensional transportation corridor and enhancing the level of regional transportation integration of the Yangtze River Economic Belt", and an important initiative to optimize the business environment in our province.

The opening of the "Yangtze River Liner" will help give full play to the advantages of railroad capacity, speed, not easily restricted by weather conditions. Through the iron and water transport to promote the production of raw materials into Sichuan and special products out of the two-way flow of Sichuan, and further optimize the comprehensive transportation system along the river, smooth the golden channel along the river, and promote the realization of the "economic channel" towards the "channel economy".

The opening of the "Yangtze River Liner" is aimed at further strengthening the contact and collaboration between the governments and enterprises along the line, relying on the Liner to vigorously build and improve the multimodal transportation service network, promoting the construction of intelligent logistics parks, aggregating the elements of regional economic and social development, and enhancing the clustering effect of the hub industry. At the same time, it can further open the "artery" of cooperation between provinces and cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, realize the ladder transfer of industries from the eastern coast to the western region, promote the exploration and innovation of industry mode, service scene, supply chain finance, etc., and further enhance the value-added economy and profitability of the liner.

Mutually beneficial to the east and west, the river reaches the sea. According to the working idea of "based in Sichuan and radiating to the west", the "Yangtze River Liner" will realize regularized two-way operation through pilot guidance, gradual expansion and orderly expansion. It is expected that by 2030, it will complete the diversion of more than 15 million tons of navigable capacity gap of the Three Gorges Hub, accounting for about 30% of the total diversion of the Three Gorges in the future, effectively lifting the constraints brought by the water transport traffic in Sichuan-Chongqing and the western region, and contributing to the strength of Sichuan for the better service and integration into the domestic and international double cycle.
