The vessel "NORTHERN JUVENILE" is fully loaded with Chinese goods. According to the voyage schedule of the shipping news network, it was once attached to Qingdao Port on May 7-8, Shanghai Port on May 9-10, Zhoushan Port in Ningbo on May 10-11, and Nansha Port on May 13-14.

 Information shows that the cargoes on board NORTHERN JUVENILE vessels may involve a number of co-container shipping companies, including CMA CGM, Maersk, COSCO Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd and Orient Overseas.

It is worth noting that in the notice, CMA CGM specifically reminded the customer that the shipowner had requested salvage and had signed the LOF salvage contract (this is one of the more common procedures for shipowners to declare general average subsequently).
In accordance with liability under maritime law, CMA CGM will not be liable for any compensation unless the person claiming compensation can prove that the cause of the fire was caused by the carrier.
Cma CGM said it has strongly recommended that cargo underwriters be notified of the incident immediately.

Judging from the latest sailing track of the ship "NORTHERN JUVENILE", after the ship caught fire, it has stayed in the incident area for several days. The severity of the fire is unknown at present, and the cargo owner needs to pay close attention to it.
With reference to historical cases, it is very likely that the shipowner will declare general average, resulting in no compensation and additional costs for the owner.
General average refers to the legal system under which special sacrifices and special expenses incurred as a direct result of intentional and reasonable measures taken for the common safety of ships, goods and other property in the same sea voyage are apportioned proportionally among the beneficiaries.
In view of the fact that the NORTHERN JUVENILE has called at several Chinese ports and involved a large number of potential co-lockers, any cargo shipped on this vessel to West Africa would be subject to delay or even damage.
