EU ETS Surcharge Revisions Effective April 1, 2024
Ocean Network Express (ONE) will be modifying the ETS Surcharge tariff effective April 1, 2024.The ETS Surcharge tariffs are separated by transaction and the amounts and logic will be updated quarterly unless otherwise notified in advance. For more detailed information, please refer to the attached Customer Advice below.
As of January 1, 2024, the shipping industry is included in the scope of the European Union Emissions Trading System ("EU ETS").
The EU ETS tariffs will come into force on April 1, 2024, following an announcement made on December 1, 2023 that ONE has reviewed and updated the EU ETS tariffs. This will apply to all existing and new contracts starting on January 1, 2024 and thereafter.
The tariff should be reviewed quarterly; however, this is subject to change with prior notice."
The ETS surcharge does not apply to shipments exported from China.The ETS component will be included and considered part of the freight rate, not the surcharge.
